Australian Cotton Strengthens Worldwide

Article #79

According to Australian Agricultural Bank and Analyst Rabobank, Australian cotton export markets are being increasingly diversified.

With China reserve auctions shifting over 30,000 tonnes of 2012-13 stock a day for the bi-annual period, the low quality is their production is requiring high quality Australian fibre for blending.

On top of this new requirement, India's cotton exports have fallen considerably in international markets, which "will aid the absorption of Australia's expected four million-plus bale crop" (a 100% increase over 2 financial years).

China is currently Australia's most dominant importer of cotton in 2017, however Vietnam, Thailand and Bangladesh have proven significant buyers of Australian fibre, particularly with the rapid expansion of the Vietnam textile industry over the last 4 years.
